It’s with great excitement that we share our experience of joining the Kuala Lumpur Illustration Fair (KLIF) 2024 for the first time. Having visited the event last year, we were thrilled by the pristine, ‘clean’ venue which the organizers had meticulously set up. The fair was held in a so-called white cube, a neutral and flexible space that allowed artists to decorate and showcase their work in unique and creative ways—a refreshing change from other local art events.
Inspired by last year's experience, we decided to participate this time and took the opportunity to set up a room that would leave a lasting impression. We divided our space into two main sections.
In one half of the room, we introduced our vibrant Riso inks and demonstrated the various ink combinations that artists could achieve with them. The centerpiece of this section was our eye-catching poster featuring our own creation—the Riso Rangers. Inspired by the Power Rangers, each ranger was assigned a different color, mirroring the range of Riso inks available in our studio.
The other half of the room was dedicated to showcasing our recent Riso works, highlighting what our studio has produced over the years. The latest addition, our Riso stickers, turned out to be the biggest hit of the event. Seeing people appreciate our presentation and receiving such positive feedback was incredibly rewarding. We made many new friends and reunited with old ones, engaging in delightful conversations throughout the event.
The atmosphere at KLIF was electric. Every artist and studio had poured their heart and soul into preparing for this event, bringing their best work to town for three days of spectacular presentations. It was a testament to the passion and dedication within our local illustration community, reflecting countless hours of hard work and sleepless nights.
We are immensely grateful for all the love and support we received. This experience has been both humbling and inspiring, and we look forward to continuing this journey. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, and we can't wait to see you all again next year!
